The primary task of the homemaker is to provide light housekeeping services to preserve a safe, sanitary home and enhance family life.

Duties may include:

• light housekeeping
• accompaning client to appointments
• dry and wet mopping
• dishwashing
• cleaning kitchen and bathroom
• changing bed linen
• emptying trash/take out garbage
• shopping at the nearest major grocery store
• laundry in the home or nearest laundromat
• basic meal preparation and meal planning
• essential errands such as accompanying client to medical appointments
• maintaining a safe environment by observing, monitoring and reporting on a client’s wellness.

A homemaker may not provide hands-on personal care to a client.
